Allan Innman, Pointy Ear, oil on muslin mounted to panel, 6.75 x 6 inches, 2013.
This is a painting I finished up a few months ago of my ear. I got a Spock-like ear!

This will be on view next month at The Affordable Art Fair in NY, available through Elisa Contemporary.
So I’ve been doing some new things. Doing a little bit of figurative work. This is a fairly recent piece. I never knew how much hair could be in a beard!

Excited to finally be finished with this new painting! I’ve been working on it on and off for several months. It’s headed to the Supersonic Electronic Invitational in San Francisco for their January show at Spoke Art. It’s called “At the Drive In” and is oil on canvas. It’s inspired by my love of watching 2001: A Space Odyssey as a kid on VHS and not really understanding what in the world was going on… Hope you like!

Allan Innman, Ring Pops, oil on canvas mounted to panel, 2012
I tried ring pops for the first time in years….they wouldn’t fit on my fat finger

Getting settled in my new studio at UGA. I can now call myself a “grad student.” Been waiting years to say that.
I hadn’t mentioned this on tumblr, but I’m going to grad school! I’m headed to Athens, Georgia this fall to study at the Lamar Dodd School of Art at The University of Georgia. I couldn’t be more excited. Honestly, I didn’t think I was gonna get in! So I’m more than thrilled to be a candidate.
I’ve been waiting for this opportunity for years. After waiting for the right time - the time is now. Hopefully the post-undergrad years have allowed me to mature and hone my skills. I’m glad I didn’t rush into it.
UGA has an amazing program and is one of the best in the southeast. I’d be one of around 100 grad students in many different areas. I’ll be studying Drawing and Painting in a brand new 40 million dollar building complete with state-of-the-art facilities. Let’s hope I can still paint a few toy paintings, but who knows what I’ll be painting! I hope at least paintings with pop culture references. Just wanted to let all y’all know… - Allan
